July 23, 2024
Clark County taxpayers will see a big change in the appearance and processing of tax statements and payments, starting with the 2024 Tax season. This year’s statements and paid receipts will be a full page. We will no longer be using the 1/3-part sheets. As a full page would not fit into the small yellow envelope that was used to hold the receipt, those envelopes will no longer be offered. A standard white envelope will be used.
The new system will not come with a Summary of Taxes page listing all the statements and tax amounts with a total for them. Therefore, it will be imperative that all statements be included with the payment. We always tried to group statements together, so fewer of them are missed. Without that summary there will be a greater number of them not grouped together. That may lead to missed statements and missed payments. ANY MISSED PAYMENTS WILL ALL BE SUBJECT TO LATE FEES OF INTEREST AND PENALTY, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT YOU RECEIVED THE STATEMENT(S). Depending on whether the statements are together in the alphabet, the statements may even come in separate envelopes. It is the responsibility of the taxpayer to make sure that all statements are received for properties owned and/or are wanting to pay. If you get a statement for something you don’t own or did not receive a statement for property you should have, contact us as soon as possible to get it straightened out. THIS IS WHY IT IS SO IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO MAKE SURE YOU RECEIVE ALL THE STATEMENTS YOU SHOULD HAVE, AND INCLUDE PORTION REQUESTED ON THE STATEMENT BACK WITH THE PAYMENT. We are now accepting online credit/debit card payments. Go to the County website at clarkcountymo.org and use the “Pay Taxes” option to the left to begin the
process.
As of last year, the Collector’s Office is billing for the City of Wayland. That tax will appear to the LEFT on the County’s tax bill. However, we will not be able to accept payment for the entire bill IF you owe delinquent Wayland taxes. Those statements will be stamped with a notice to pay any outstanding Wayland taxes before paying the County bill. ANY DELINQUENT WAYLAND TAXES FOR YEARS 2022 AND PRIOR MUST BE PAID AT WAYLAND. WE WILL NOT COLLECT
WAYLAND DELINQUENT TAXES FOR THE YEARS 2022 AND PRIOR.
We know that this first year will be a learning experience for all of us. Please be patient with us as we will do our best to get all of your questions and concerns addressed. We are hoping by working together on any issue that arises we will make this transition as smooth as possible.
Please contact us at 111 E Court St, Ste #140 in the Courthouse in Kahoka, or call 660-727-3787 with any questions.
Thank you.
Michelle Allen, Clark County Collector
